Student-Centered Coaching is an evidence-based instructional coaching model that shifts the focus from ‘fixing’ teachers to collaborating with them to design instruction that targets student outcomes. Join authors Diane Sweeney and Leanna Harris and the rest of the team to learn the guiding principles and core practices for Student-Centered Coaching. Learning will be differentiated based on coaching and leadership strands.



Recommended Audience: This workshop is well suited for instructional coaches, administrators, and district leaders who are new to Student-Centered Coaching as well as those more experienced with the model. We also encourage school and district teams to attend together.

Location: BJCC in Birmingham, AL

Dates: November 30 & December 1, 2022

Times: Breakfast & Check-in is from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. both mornings. Workshop starts at 8:30 a.m. both mornings.

Price: $470 per person. All registrations include a light breakfast and lunch both days.

Registration: Open to districts affiliated with ARI and/or AMSTI. District groups are limited to 10 registrations. 

Presenters: Student-Centered Coaching authors Diane Sweeney, Leanna Harris, and Julie Steele will be presenting this two-day workshop.

Recommended Books: The Essential Guide for Student-Centered Coaching (Corwin, 2020) and Moves for Launching a New Year of Student-Centered Coaching (Corwin, 2022).

Travel Planning: The workshop ends at 2:30 p.m. on day 2 (December 1, 2022)

Refunds/Cancellations: Workshop registrations canceled on or before September 15, 2022 are refundable and subject to a $50 administrative fee. Registrants canceling on or after September 16, 2022 and before October 1, 2022 will receive a 50% refund. Registrations canceled after October 1, 2022 can be used for one of our self-paced online courses but are not refundable. All registrations can be transferred to another person. In the event that we must cancel the workshop due to Covid-19 restrictions, we will refund the cost of registration. However, we do not assume responsibility for any costs, charges, or expenses incurred for travel and lodging.

Leanna Harris

Leanna Harris

Leanna Harris has worked in the field of education for over 25 years. She worked for several years as an elementary classroom teacher in the Denver area and then brought this experience to the larger educational setting as a consultant with the Public Education & Business Coalition (PEBC).

Diane Sweeney

Diane Sweeney

Diane Sweeney has been a national consultant since 1999. After teaching and coaching in the Denver Public Schools, Diane served as a program officer at the Public Education and Business Coalition (PEBC) in Denver. Since then she has become a respected voice in the field of coaching and professional development.

Julie Steele

Julie Steele

Julie Steele has been in public education since 1998 as an elementary teacher, instruction specialist, and consultant. In 2019, she chose to pursue a full-time career in consulting to have a broader impact on students and teachers around the country.
